New Force June Employment Hacks

After years in recruitment, hiring across a range of exciting (and not so much) industries, including advertising, marketing, customer service, finance and engineering, the team at New Force has seen THOUSANDS of cover letters, CVs and job interviews.

Whether you’re applying for your first job out of school or uni, or you’re ready to become the next Prime Minister with your own private crown limo, we hope you find the information below helpful!

#1 You only get what you put in

We all have dreams of where we would like to be, whether it is being the CEO with an executive entourage, or the next Real Housewife of Auckland. Both require work to be able to get there. If you want to be a big CEO, chances are you won’t be the only one:  there’ll be plenty of competition for the job. If you want to put yourself in a position where you can start climbing the ladder to get there,  now’s the time to stand out.

#2 Include Contact Details with every application

Every time you don’t include contact details in a job application a puppy dies.
(Because we care, New Force even provides you with a box to put your details in. Just to make sure).

#3 Let your SKILLS do the talking

This might surprise you, but employers are not always hell bent on a certain level of experience.   What employers want, is someone who  can communicate and get the job done. Plus, if they think you might be good value at the office morning tea, that’s often a bonus.
TIP: Do a video intro on your New Force profile so employers can get to know you straight away!

#4 Ask not what your employer can do for you, but what you can do for your employer

You know how when you apply for a job and it has that little box where it says ‘Why do you think you are best fit for this role?’

If you answered: a) ‘Yeah like, I believe this role would be a good next step in my career path’.

Sorry you are the weakest link, GOODBYE.

If you answered b) ‘ I believe I have the relevant skills and commitment to succeed in this role and help your company grow’

Congrats, you’re onto the next round.

#5 First Impressions

On Tinder, you only take a second to decide whether to swipe left or right; that’s the power of a good first impression. The first five seconds of meeting an employer can have a massive influence over how that person will think about you. If you are fortunate enough to make it through to a face to face interview, make sure you are well prepared and looking professional.

If you want even more control over your first impression, make sure you record a killer video intro in your
New Force profile, you can record and re-record as many times as you like to make sure it’s perfect. 👌

#6 Make sure your New Force Profile Slays.

Our really smart and awesome web developer team have created a platform that lets you show employers specifically the things they are looking for when they hire.

A well completed New Force profile, shows employer you are onto it. Do skills tests, create a video intro, write an awesome bio – and watch those matches role in. The same goes for your social media profiles; make sure your LinkedIn rocks and your Facebook is employer friendly, as you never know when someone might go on a covert fact finding mission!
